Robert Bateman's horse- disappointed, dull colours. There is no capture of wildness or wilderness of the Mustang in the painting. Looks more like a quarter horse. No life painted into the horses like he captures with nature. example-I can smell the bush, the sounds of the bush and yet a stillness, surrounding the white tail deer where she stands. It's so vivid. The Mustangs lack that oomph! Just another painting of horses. There is no sense of horse breathed into the painting, no earthy smell of the horses, no jubilate release of a warm bond, no want to step in to their world. cheers from Canada
